The Affordable Care Act authorized bailouts to insurance companies as an inducement to get them to participate in the program. Those bailout provisions are expiring, but companies that continue to lose money are pushing for an extension – and supporters of the law may cooperate in an effort to prop up this failing program.
This is a textbook case of government putting special interests before the interests of American taxpayers. Tell Congress not to bailout insurance companies!
We, the undersigned, refuse to support corporate welfare for insurance companies. For years, advocates have warned of the dangers of the Affordable Care Act, and now the American people refuse to sacrifice to prop up failing businesses. We encourage Congress to combat Obamacare extensions, and maintain the risk corridor language of this year’s spending bill.
